Introduction

Periodically I hear from friends who lost their high school yearbooks (often due to divorce, moving too many times, or water damage) and they're looking for a replacement. Around 2005 or so, Classmates.com started soliciting copies of yearbooks to scan and make available on their site, including printed copies for a fee ($80 - $100 each). I loaned them my '69 and '70 yearbooks to scan, and that's how they got them for those two years.

In 2020, MyHeritage.com made a collection of over 250,000 yearbooks available for genealogical research, with the bonus feature of being able to colorize individual pages from yearbooks for downloading. For each of the yearbooks above, I colorized each page, downloaded them, and printed the collected images to PDF format. Most signatures and inscriptions have been digitally removed, so your copy generally won't have much writing in them.

Note that these yearbooks were scanned by a third party, hence some of the pages occasionally cut off part of a picture. The colors are not necessarily accurate, but generally tend to add a measure of reality that isn't present in black and white photos. Look at the example images provided below to get an idea of what to expect. File sizes are around 500 MB and may take awhile to download. The PDFs can be readily printed on letter size paper in grayscale or color for a satisfactory alternative to a lost yearbook. The best settings to view the yearbooks on the screen in Adobe Acrobat Reader are [View -> Zoom -> Zoom to Page Level] and [View -> Page Display -> Two Page View]. Enjoy!
